From what I've found it looks like new "frosted" dice and revised rules. I know the first printing had some Trobe with Duce quality but never heard any complaints about rules. Does anyone know what rules have changed and if anything else is different in the revised edition? This thread is archived New comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be cast level 2 Thanks this is exactly what I was looking for. level 1 Glad to hear they're making a new version. I traded my old version (and a small sweetener) for TI3 a while back. I want Quantum again though. :) level 1 having dice that weren't slimy, stuck together and leaving marks on your table surface is a good enough reason for a new edition The EU partners handling replacements weren't very helpful when i contacted them. asking for a photo to prove the dice were in need of replacement. how about the fact they're manky as fuck and i'm not the first person to complain about it.. level 2 I ended up washing my dice (I had to deal with the Canadian partner, same company as in the EU), and that took care of the problem.

Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2017 Verified Purchase Great 2-4 player sci-fi board game. I have played it with 2 and 3 players. The game scales well, and the components are awesome. The key mechanism, using dice as ships, works very well. The value is your ship's movement, so bigger numbers are faster. But lower numbers are more powerful in battle, so it pays to have a variety of ship values available. You combine ship values around planets to exactly match the planet's value. If you do so, you can place a quantum cube on that planet. Once you place all of yours, you win. Simple rules make for little down time, and unique cards that can be earned make the game different each time you play. I am really glad I bought this game. The components are not stellar, but they are still good quality. Definitely would purchase again. I'm not a big chess player, but I'm always down for a game of quantum.
level 1 Are all editions now sold the "Revised" edition? level 2 Should be, unless your retailer has old stock. But the first run sold out pretty quickly everywhere I know of. You can tell if it's revised by looking at the box lid and seeing if there's a tiny little "Revised" at the lower corner of the logo. At least, I'm pretty sure that's where it's located. Don't have my box in front of me. level 1 I'm glad this got a revised version as I got rid of my copy a while back because of the sticky dice issue. Some of the general properties of the energy eigenfunctions and the energy eigenvalues should also be known to the student who uses this text. The major motivation for this project is to revise the main text. There are three important additions and/or changes to the revised edition, which otherwise preserves the original version unchanged. These include a reworking of certain portions of Section 5. 2 on time-independent perturbation theory for the degenerate case, by Professor Kenneth Johnson of M. I. T., taking into account a subtle point that has not been properly treated by a number of texts on quantum mechanics in this country. Professor Roger Newton of Indiana University contributed refinements on lifetime broadening in Stark effect and additional explanations of phase shifts at resonances, the optical theorem, and the non-normalizable state. These appear as "remarks by the editor" or "editor's note" in the revised edition. Professor Thomas Fulton of the Johns Hopkins University reworked his Coulomb scattering contribution (Section 7.

Print publication year: 2017 Online publication date: June 2018 J. J. Sakurai, Jim Napolitano, Temple University, Philadelphia Publisher: Cambridge University Press DOI: pp xi-xii Summary Since 1989 the editor has enthusiastically pursued a revised edition of Modern Quantum Mechanics by his late great friend J. Sakurai, in order to extend this text's usefulness into the twenty-first century. Much consultation took place with the panel of Sakurai friends who helped with the original edition, but in particular with Professor Yasuo Hara of Tsukuba University and Professor Akio Sakurai of Kyoto Sangyo University in Japan. This book is intended for the first-year graduate student who has studied quantum mechanics at the junior or senior level. It does not provide an introduction to quantum mechanics for the beginner. The reader should have had some experience in solving time-dependent and time-independent wave equations. A familiarity with the time evolution of the Gaussian wave packet in a force-free region is assumed, as is the ability to solve one-dimensional transmission-reflection problems.

So a 6, being a scout ship, can move 6 squares. Combat is determined with a dice but there is a lot of strategy involved in moving ships, maximizing your turn and there are of course two types of cards which modify the game. Some cards have instant actions while others you get to keep and they give you abilities. There are some great videos on youtube and if you search for Quantum board game on youtube you will find more info. Another great thing about the game is that there is no player elimination. The players can bring heir ships back and participate until the end. In all the games I have played, the person who ended up winning, did not win by much, so there is a tension at the table that is just awesome. The maps can be customized to create a longer or shorter game. I have played with 2 players and with 4 and playing with 4 is better but that is not to say the game is not with 2. My only regret is that the game can only play with 4 people because in my gaming group we tend to get more than 4.

Top critical review 3. 0 out of 5 stars I *really* wanted to like this game Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2017 For one thing, it cost around $40, and for another, I really like playing board games - all kinds of board games. European strategy board games. Classic board games. Cooperative games. Destroy the other player games. Games that require you to think and apply logic. Games that require you to suspend logic. Medieval-themed games. Futuristic-themed games. Bananagrams. (I had to put that one in its own category as I'm slightly obsessed with Bananagrams... ) I mention all of this so that you know that I'm not generally a board game snob. If it's a board game, I usually enjoy playing it. Quantum is a relatively easy-to-learn board game where players place their "ships" (dice) on a grid of tiles with various numbers, and then move around the board trying to meet the requirements for constructing "Quantum cubes" (little plastic cubes) on various parts of the grid. It took my son and I maybe 15 minutes to get the basic gist down, and then one run through was enough for us to feel like we understood the mechanics.

Long story short, if you like a space themed strategy game that keeps you guessing until the end, buy this game. It fully deserves 5 stars, and I would buy it again. he 2 expansions for it are sadly out of print but while we wait the game is a great addition to any collection. Stop reading and buy it:) Get ready for battle! Reviewed in India on August 18, 2018 Verified Purchase First off, have to state that I've never come across a cooler set of dice! The rules are fairly simple to learn and intuitive once you start playing. This game is strong on attacking so not for the faint hearted. It really packs a punch even with two people playing. I recommend this one for the strategy required and the thematic elements. By far the best strategy board game I have ever played Reviewed in Canada on February 5, 2018 Verified Purchase Chess in space. By far the best strategy board game I have ever played. Every person develops their own play style, and finds new tactics to best what you had believed to be an unbreakable force.
